The Rabot-Blaisantvest neighbourhood in Ghent pays its volunteers, who help maintain attractive and clean streets/squares or improve the general environment, with its own currency: tower credits. Volunteers are paid 25 tower credits per hour. Tower credits can be used in the neighbourhood to buy bread, fruit and vegetables. The tower credit counter also supplies energy saving lamps, tram tickets, etc.
Would you like to know what tower credits look like, what they can be used for or how you could earn them? Have a look at the film clip or click here. If you would like to talk face to face about the tower credit project visit the tower credit counter at Wondelgemstraat 73a (open on Thursdays between 16.00 and 19.00 hrs).
